Vera Kohlheim Yancey, a native of Mississippi, is an author, poet, guest lecturer, motivational speaker, & much more. "The Clearing…" offers a candid glimpse into the complexities of the life of a young black girl as she recounts the lingering effect of physical and mental abuse, racism, parental rejection, and emotional betrayal. It is the fulfillment of a 40-year-old promise to honor the memory of her Grandfather, a proud descendant of the Zulu Nation.
Ms. Yancey sees writing as her destiny. Her talent has been recognized by various Book Reading Clubs, Blacks in Government (BIG), and by the Ghana Embassy at an Official African Naming Ceremony. She has also been interviewed on the University of District of Columbia Book Channel & Channel 66.
Currently, she is working on several books, including mysteries, motivational topics, and children's books. Her next release is a murder mystery, “Betrayal in the First Degree.” (Click on Book image for Excerpt).
